You may have additional questions regarding our programs and the process. Below are general answers to the questions we hear most often.
VET TEC 2.0 is not the same as VET TEC. While they are similar programs, the qualifications and requirements for training providers are different and the program requirements changed. As such, Intellectual Point is only able to offer Residential Training at this time. We may qualify in the future for virtual training; that is not guaranteed, so we only reference what we are authorized at this time.
The VA defines residential training as Synchronous Learning where the student and faculty are in the same location with training offered in real time. This means as a student, you will be required to attend classes 18 hours per week on site at our Sterling, Virginia campus, should you wish to enroll with VET TEC 2.0.
The schedule will be determined based on classroom availability, instructor availability, and class size. Classes may be scheduled under one of three schedules:
You can access the most current available schedule through our website.
Yes. As noted in the school catalog, there are some additional costs for the program that are not covered by VET TEC 2.0. By law, the VA will not pay costs associated with an exam. As such, the programs do have out of pocket expenses.
If you have remaining GI Bill® benefits, you may be able to use them through the VA. The process and information is listed on this page (reference the FAQs for more information regarding certifications). We do not guarantee that any exam will be reimbursed, but wanted to share the option.
Please review the qualifications for the VET TEC 2.0 program. It is critically important to understand that VET TEC 2.0 does affect other education benefits as per the policy, which is different from the original program. We encourage you to read the information from the VA directly rather than relying on a summary here.
This is not the same as VET TEC. With VET TEC 2.0, you cannot overlap education benefits for training. This includes Apprenticeship Programs using education benefits.
While you may receive your entitlement letter for VET TEC 2.0 and have other programs eligible, the VA will not pay for two programs at the same time. We will not be able to enroll you if you have an overlapping enrollment with another school.
Please refer to the VET TEC 2.0 program requirements regarding eligibility and entitlement. This is not the same as VET TEC. Each scenario is different so we cannot speak to an individual circumstance.
What we can say is that the entitlement usage for Intellectual Point is not based on the length of the program, but on the cost of the program. If you contact the VA, they can explain how your entitlement will be affected if you were to complete our program. While another benefit is not required for VET TEC 2.0, if you have it, it may be affected.
Please note that Intellectual Point does not guarantee or have any control over the Housing Allowance paid to students. We can tell you that we are defined as full-time based on the hours per week. Students are paid retroactively for their training based on resident attendance at the school for the prior month. The full-time rates for BAH/MHA are publicly listed as:
Disclaimer: The payment is based on a full month of class attendance. We report each course in a pathway separately based on its start date and end date. If there is a break in your schedule (defined as a period of more than 7 days of non-attendance in a class), we report that break to the VA and housing allowance is not paid for that time. For more information please review the VET TEC 2.0 Education Page or contact the VA directly.
We cannot make that determination. The VA pays based upon certifications of courses and your attendance verification. We can tell you that it is retroactive, and that you will be paid by direct deposit based upon how you are set up in the VA system for payments. For more information please review the VET TEC 2.0 Education Page or contact the VA directly.
We cannot guarantee that each successful graduate will be employed solely based on the completion of the program. We work diligently to prepare you with the skills you need to be successful.
Please feel free to reach out to the Admissions Team via email. For the most accurate and personalized information regarding your benefits, please contact the VA directly.
